The two blueprints illustrates the current layout of southwest airport and the proposed changes that will be made to this airport in the upcoming year.
Overall, it is readily apparent that the airport will undergo extensive modifications, this will offer far more facilities and better accessibility to their passengers after the redevelopment is done.
In the current airport, there is only a single departure and arrival point , the departure area is located in the left of the building and it has a cafe. While, the arrival area does not have such amenities . In the following year, it is expected that the boarding and welcoming area will be refurbished with multiple openings to serve more passengers at a time, departure passengers will have access to bag drop in facilities that will be built on the original site of the check-in counter, opposite to it the check-in counter will be replaced. Meanwhile, the renovated airport will have more services like ATMS and Cafes for the passengers in the arrival area. Finally, a car hire will be set-up on the right hand side of the arrival site.
The airport now has eight gates and a moving walkaway ,where passengers get in to their departure. After the reconversion of the airport, it will a significant infrastructure with eighteen gates. Moreover, the old walkway is decided to be demolished to anew skytrain feature to establish fast movements for passengers. Upon departure, the passport control and security control seen straight ahead will remain the same. New shops will be opened up in the area that people will access before going to passport control and security.
