The two maps delineate the layout changes that have occurred in a bookstore between the year 2000 and the present day.
Overall, the book shop has undergone dramatic renovations from its former features to a more cutting-edge and conducive version. Remarkably, the most important of which are the replacement of the bookshelves in the middle section of the bookstore with facilities catering for sit-down customers.
In the north-west, a large bookcase that originally housed fiction has been converted into three distinct sections, encompassing: Art, Cookery, and Hobbies. Notably, the size of the original fiction area has diminished, has been relocated adjacent to these new categories. Below this reconfigured area, the travel section remains intact until now. Similarly, the southwest region, housing new books and the service desk, has retained its original layout.
There used to be 3 bookstands: cookery, art and hobbies in the center of the bookshop, yet it has been redeveloped into 3 tables in order to provide seats for readers. The former non-fiction bookcase has been supplanted with a cafe, adding a social and refreshment element to the bookstore. Lastly, the eastern section has undergone a category swap, with the fiction bookshelf being converted into a non-fiction area, thereby expanding the store’s non-fiction offerings.
