The maps show the main changes which took place in the town centre between 1990 and today.
Overall, it can be seen clearly that the Southern part of town centre in 1990, there were many houses while, today they become apartment blocks. It is also clear that significant developments and facilities remained unchanged until now.
In 1990, there were several separate buildings like newsagent’s, grocer’s, baker’s, butcher’s, and café along the Newton Street. The eastern side of the map was occupied by two banks and houses. Moreover, Green Street had a row of houses along its southern side. The central area was occupied by a park, library, and town hall.
The current view reveals the most significant changes have taken place in the town centre. The most notable change include the construction of a shopping mall in place of the previously smaller shops along the Newton Street. Additionally, row of houses have been enlarged by new apartment blocks and Green Street has been demolished.
The another change is that eastern bank transformed into café, with construction of pedestrian area and limiting the movement of vehicles and transports. Furthermore, the main buildings like children’s centre, park, library, and town hall stayed intact.
