The two maps illustrate a manufacturing area in a British town and how it will look after renovation.
Overall, the site will be completely transformed as it will become residential rather than industrial. The factories will be demolished and dwelling houses will be set up instead, while the neighbourhood will enjoy enhanced infrastructure, including the construction of new road links.
To begin, currently the area features eight factories located around and to the east of the large roundabout. To the north of the industrial estate there is a river with farmland beyond it. Local authorities are planning to remove five plants in the eastern part of the district and replace them by three housing blocks with a playground next to them. To cater to the needs of local families, an L-shaped school in the east end will be developed. Then, an existing system of roads will be improved by adding a small roundabout on the main road. To the east of it, a hospital will be erected with a shopping area to the west.
Next, three more factories in the centre will be pulled down and more accommodation will be raised, which will require the extension of a new road to the west. A bridge will cross the river, allowing a direct access to the farmland area, where a large block of flats will be built. To link the new residential area in the north with the centre via the bridge, the current roundabout will be connected to a new road heading north.
