The maps show how a particular island has changed from 1980 to the present day. Overall, the island has developed in terms of entertainment and commerciality with modernized shops and restaurants, a surf beach, and a pool. Boardwalk running along the coast made the island more accessible and the introduction of apartments increased the island’s accommodating opportunities while the western side of the island was kept in the original position.
In 1980, there used to be an old restaurant in the north of the island, but it has been replaced by modernized one along with a range of shops. The land which was previously occupied by camping houses in the east has been turned into a pool.
The biggest changes happened in the north-east of the island with the introduction of a surfing beach, a diving school, and a multi-storey apartment block at the expense of the unoccupied land. A boardwalk and a footpath have been built making the island more accessible. In contrast, much of the structure in the western side of the island including the accommodation area, the pier, and the reception remained intact until today.
