The provided maps illustrate changes to the ground floor of an art gallery between 2005 and the present day.
It is clear that the gallery experienced significant modernizations with more diverse facilities being added or relocated both inside and outside the building. Notably, the area to the left of the entrance witnessed more changes compared to the right.
In 2005’s layout, the main hall was connected with an entrance on the South. The reception area was located at the far end of the hall with stairs at the back. To the east wing, there was a row of three exhibition rooms with the first room constructed in the south corner while the third one in the up-right corner. The opposite site of the building was used for a cafe area situated on the upper west corner, next to the Gallery office. The other room that took up the entire southwest corner was the fourth exhibition room, which was the biggest on the west wing.
The updated layout introduces several new features with a wheelchair ramp being added outside of the gallery, which leads to the entrance. The reception desk was centrally relocated to the middle of the Grand Hall, providing a more spacious and welcoming entryway for visitors. The structure on the right hand stayed the same, except for a new erection of the Lift area adjacent to the Exhibition Room 3. Most dramatic development was on the west side. The Cafe was made smaller and converted into a Gallery shop while the office next to it was demolished to make way for a vending machine. The Exhibition Room 4 was divided into two rooms for Temporary Exhibition and Children’s Area on the lower left-hand side.
