The layout shows the developments had occurred in the city of Nelson from 2000 to now.
Overall, over the period the city of Nelson witnessed many changes. The principle change was the addition of bike rental scheme area. Moreover,new shop had been built at the place of old market and construction of more shopping centre and transport facilities.
In 2000, the city was specious and underdeveloped. There was port toward the South and some trees were located to the Northeast corner. There was old market to the Southwest . Beside the old market there was City centre and both were near the main road. On the west there was train station. The university was stand toward the north direction.
In present time, drastic changes have been done there. Firstly, left side of the university there has been hall of residence and right side of the university there has been new shopping centre constructed. Secondly, the train station transferred from the west to middle of the Town centre, which have been nearest to the University. Thirdly, that train line has been directly connected to the bike rental area and these have been built surrounded City centre. The old market replaced by new shopping centre. On the right side of the city centre there has been new covered market built. Lastly restaurant has been built to the Southwest corner and bars and club have been constructed the Southeast corner of open space of Port.
