The maps demonstrate the alterations of the layout of a library from 1975 to the present. Overall, the library has experienced significant changes in the amenities of the building and space allocation, with the expansion of shared areas and the introduction of coffee and wheeling access.
In 1975, the library was accessed via an entrance in the centre of the northern side of the building. To the right of the entrance, there were two sections displaying new books, while the left side had a large section for books and magazines. A variety of bookshelves placed slightly to the left. Opposite of these shelves was a library desk. The shared areas were placed in the southern section. Between the bookshelves and the children’s book is the toilet.
In the current design, the location of the entrance remained unchanged. However, to the right of entrance, one sector for new books has been demolished to make room for wheeling access. Another significant alteration is the introduction of coffee. A variety of bookshelves have been removed to make way for coffee surrounded by sofas. Library desk, bookshelves, toilet, and children’s book have remained in their original location.
