The two diagrams illustrate changes that have been made to Dalton, which is a town, in a 200-year-period, commencing in 1815.
Overall, it is evident that most facilities transformed, except for the Dal River and the town changed in terms of expansion, reduction, destruction, construction.
On the one hand, expansion, reduction and destruction were witnessed in the town of Dalton. Regarding expansion, the residential area in the northeast corner and the road path in the east were dramatically extended to the whole town. While a notable decrease was observed in the smaller section of the Dalton forest in the north, the bigger one on the western side was chopped down to make way for the new housing area. Similarly, the hall farm, which was located alongside the river in the east, was transformed into the new airport.
On the other hand, some particular remaining parts of the town experienced a construction, whereas others still existed . Lying in the northwest of the town was the new hospital and on the opposite side was the recently built industrial zone. Likewise, there were a lately constructed school and a bridge across the river in the middle of the town. A hotel in the east was also built in contrast to the unchanged river Dal, staying in the center and the north side of Dalton.
