The two maps illustrate the degree to which a city has changed since 1950.
Overall, the city has undergone a number of substantial changes, the most important of which are the expansion of the city landscape and the construction of new infrastructure facilities.
In 1950, there were just 20,000 inhabitants in the city, with a business district and a residential area located in the center of the map, where two major roads intersected. The first one ran from the west to the east of the city, on which an airport was located at the end. Besides, the other road ran from the north to the south of the city, with a bridge connecting two sides of a river, which directly led to a government building in the south of the river.
As for now, the city’s population has increased to 200,000, contributing to the expansion of the residential area and business district. In the center of the city, a new lake has been constructed, accompanied by an upgrade of the old bridge and a new dam in the east of the map. To the south of the river, a new road has been added, running from the west to the northeast, including a new bridge between the old one and the dam, whereas a new government building has been situated, while the old one is smaller. In the east of the city, the old airport has been southwards. In contrast, the two main roads of the city remain unchanged.
