The maps illustrate how the layout of the central library has changed over the period of twenty years.
Overall, the comparison of the two maps reveals the differences between its previous arrangements and the current design. In the first map, two decade ago, the left hand side of the library contained CD, videos, computer games at the top, adult fiction books in the middle, and a reading room including newspapers and magazines at the bottom. The central area was filled with some chairs and tables, while the right side included children’s book at the top, adult non fiction books at the middle and a enquiry desk including tickets, book returns, etc at the bottom of the map.
The entrance of the library has remained the same in the two maps. The new design delineates the section for CDs, videos, and computer games has been repleased by storytelling events and fiction books. Just next to it, the adult non-fiction books’ corner and then the reading room has been replaced by all reference books and computer room, respectively.
The central part of the library has not remanied with any furniture. The enquirt desk has been converted into a café. There was a small information desk with self-service machines in what once was the adult non-fiction section. There is a lecture room in the back right-hand corner where children’s book used to be.
