The diagram illustrates certain changes in a public library over the past 20 years.
Overall, all the previous structures have been altered in today’s library, and certain places have been reconstructed in different locations. New things have been added, such as self-service machines and an information desk.
Twenty years ago, the top-left corner was dedicated to CDs, videos, and computer games. Now, it has been fully enlarged and changed into an area for storytelling events, children’s fiction books, and a couple of sofas have been added. The left-side corridor was for adult fiction books, but now it has become a place for all reference books. The computer room in the left corner has been built from the reading room.
On the right side, in the middle of the corridor, many new things have been introduced, such as an information desk, self-service machines, and adult fiction books, which have been rebuilt from the left-side corridor. The area for children’s books in the right corner has now been replaced by a lecture room. The enquiry desk on the bottom side has been switched with a café. In the middle of the library, the tables and chairs that were there before have been permanently removed.
