The proposed diagram gives detailed information about the changes undergone by Lakeside town in the new millennium.
Overall, it is clearly evident that Lakeside was certain to experience striking transformations, namely the expansion of the industrial area by sacrificing the territory of Woodland, which consequently led to the deterioration of ecosystems.
Moving to a more detailed analysis, the town was divided into two parts by the river, which ran through Lakeside from northeast to southwest. Turning to the first section of the town, none of the urban facilities remained in its original form, except the housing estate in the northwest, which had lengthened its area by the given period. With regard to infrastructure, the majority of the buildings had been replaced with more advanced facilities, including the transformation of the arts centre into a multi-screen cinema. Additionally, the infrastructure had not only replaced its buildings but also introduced new establishments, such as a university, which was sited near Woodland.
Interestingly, the second part of the town consisted only of an industrial complex in the southeast and was adjacent to Woodland. Generally, the industrial area expanded during the period; however, the territory of Woodland had decreased significantly, which can influence the deterioration of the ecology. Moreover, in the northeast, at the beginning of the river, was located a large lake, which had been reduced by 2009 and had turned into a small pond. It is obvious that the development of this town led to a significant reduction of environmentally friendly areas.
