The maps illustrate the changes that have taken place in Liverton docks from 1980 and the present day.
Overall, the Liverton docks area has been significantly modernized over the period, with new visitor facilities such as education center, sailing club, kid’s playground, hotel, parking, apartments, and a bridge, while cranes and warehouses along the river were removed.
To begin with, in 1980, three warehouses were built alongside the river, two warehouses in the north and one warehouse in the south. In addition to this, a crane was situated in the corner of south, and another cranes were placed between the two warehouses in the north and corner of east. Four ships were docked in the river.
Since then, considerable developments have been made to the dock. Primarily, the northern and southern warehouses have been reconstructed into educational center and an apartment building, respectively. Secondarily, new establishments have been made, a sailing club has been constructed to the right of the educational center and a hotel has been built in the south of the riverbank to the west of the apartment building. Subsequently, two new areas in the east have been placed alongside the river bank, a kid’s playground and a parking space in the north and south, separately. Furthermore, a river walk has been created in the southern riverbank, and a ship museum has replaced the docked ships in the river. Moreover, towards the coast, a bridge and a flood barrier have been developed.
