The maps illustrate how a small museum and its surroundings were altered between 1990 and 2010. Overall, the site underwent the replacement of several facilities and modifications to the exhibition rooms and shop, while the south-eastern garden was removed to allow the car park to double in size.
In 1990, the museum campus was bordered by two gardens: one to the north and another to the south-east. Visitors accessed the car park through an entrance situated between a cottage and the south-eastern garden. Inside the museum, there were two adjoining exhibition rooms and one separate room: the former was directly adjacent to the entrance, while the latter was located opposite it. A restaurant was also present, overlooking the northern garden.
By 2010, the construction of a café next to the car park entrance resulted in the demolition of the cottage. While the northern garden remained intact, the south-eastern one was removed, enabling the car park to expand to twice its original size. The facilities inside the museum remained largely unchanged, except that the shop was enlarged and the two adjoining exhibition rooms were merged.
