The map illustrates the layout of the beachfront in Australia in 1950 and its current design, highlighting significant developments made over the years.
Overall, the beachfront has undergone dramatic transformations from less facilities to new facilities for entertainment, particularly to improve convenience and functionality.
In 1950, there was the main road along the northern side of the beachfront, which run to the car park. This road also led to the city. The playground, dining tables, and pavillion were located in a row to the south of the main road. Around the beach, two pools and the lighthouse were situated, the lighthouse could be found in the right side of the beach, with 25 meter pool area near the lighthouse. Besides, another pool area could be seen in the left side of the beach.
In comparision, by now, the main road has been expanded to the lighthouse. The playground has been destructed to make way for a new car park, while a restaurant has been constructed in the west side of the map, with a new surf club adding near it, while another surf club has been built near the lighthouse. In addition, extra 25 meter pool area has been added to the western pool area. However, the dining tables, pavillion, pool area, and the lighthouse remain unchanged their original positions.
