The maps illustrate the transformation of the outskirts of Fosbury from a sparsely developed area in 1980 to a more urbanized and structured space by 2015.
In 1980, the outskirts were mostly open, with fields occupying the eastern side, a grocer’s shop, and a block of flats as central features. Recreational options were limited, with only tennis courts in the southwest. A row of terraced houses and a hotel existed in the north and remained unchanged in 2015.
By 2015, significant changes occurred. The fields were converted into a park, and a new sports center was built beside the tennis courts, broadening recreational options. The central area where the grocer’s shop and flats once stood was replaced by a roundabout, around which a supermarket and warehouses were added. To support this commercial development, car parks were built next to the supermarket and warehouses.
Overall, the outskirts evolved from open land and basic facilities to a more developed area with enhanced recreational and commercial infrastructure, reflecting urban expansion and improved accessibility.
