The given maps illustrate changes in the layout of a city called Nelson between 2000 and the present.

Overall, the city centre has witnessed extensive redevelopment, featuring new amenities associated with commerce, residence and entertainment. Notably, traffic facilities have been significantly improved, especially by prioritizing pedestrians.

Upon examining the upper part of the map, it is noticeable that a new hall of residence has been constructed in the northwest of the city centre, next to a university, whilst a green space has been replaced by a new shopping centre. Interestingly, a train station has been moved eastwards, beside an addition of a new path connecting the university and the city centre.

Over the years, the city centre has had a new system of bike renting added while a new covered market has been established on the right side of the downtown, replacing the old one which was destroyed to make space for the construction of a new shop. Additionally, besides the main road having been pedestrianized, a new restaurant and a complex of bars and clubs have also been built in the two bottom parts the map, marking a remarkable revolution compared to the previous layout in 1985, whereas the port in the southern part of the city centre has been preserved.
