The bar chart compares men and women in terms of their purposes of trips in a particular European country in 2007. Overall, males dominated their female counterparts across all the categories in question, with the exception of shopping and visiting friends sectors. Of particular note is day trip, which attracted the lowest enthusiasts.
Starting with travelling to work, the number of males accounted for an impressive 340, compared to almost 200 of female. At the same time, about 280 of women took a trip for shopping, significantly higher than men at about 190.
The gender gap between the remaining purposes of trips narrowed down. When it comes to visiting friends, the number of men and women accounted for 210 and 190 respectively. As far as the number of people who took a trip for sports and entertainment purposes is concerned, men constituted about 140, surpassing women with 130, with day trip falling behind with under 50 for both genders.
