Dear Mr. and Mrs. Thompson,
Thank you very much for inviting me to Chris’s surprise birthday party. I was so pleased to hear about your thoughtful plan, and I truly appreciate being included in such a special occasion.
I am certain that Chris will absolutely love the surprise. He really values spending time with close friends and family, and although he never organises big celebrations for himself, he is always deeply touched by meaningful gestures. I can just imagine how happy and overwhelmed he will feel when he walks into a room filled with the people he cares about most.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the party as I am scheduled to work that evening. We are currently short-staffed, and it would be very difficult for me to change my shift at such short notice. I am genuinely disappointed to miss what I know will be a wonderful celebration.
However, I have arranged to celebrate with Chris the following weekend. I am planning to take him out for dinner at his favourite restaurant and spend the afternoon together, which I hope will make up for my absence.
Please give him my warmest birthday wishes. I hope the party is a great success.
Yours sincerely,
Jenny
