Dear Mr and Mrs Collins,

How is everyone doing? I must say that I was very elated to have received your invitation to visit Australia for Chris’s surprise birthday party.

After being away from home for 4 years since we started our university studies, I know that Chris has missed spending his birthdays with his family and I am certain that he would surely enjoy this surprise birthday.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it for the party as I still have a few exams to write here in school. Due to my illness in the first semester, I had to wave off some courses, and now, I am mandated to take them to graduate this year.

I promise to make it up to Chris by visiting in Easter. I already booked my plane ticket for March next year. I hope to stay for a whole month so that Chris and I could catch up and spend quality time together.

Thank you once again for your invitation. I hope to see you soon.
