Overall, the Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia tended to have larger class sizes compared to the oth er areas.
In 2010, half of the classes in the Australian Capital Territory had 25-30 students. In other states, this proportion ranged between 33% and 42%. Similarly, medium-sized classes were also relatively common in the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia, constituting 38% and 35% respectively. Conversely, in Western Australia and New South Wales, this figure was significantly lower, at only 26%.
Regarding the class distribution of under 20 students, it accounted for the smallest share across all states, especially in the Australian Capital Territory, where it represented only 1%. Meanwhile, the figure for large-sized classes was markedly higher, with the lowest being in the Australian Capital Territory, at 10%, and the highest being in New South Wales, at 33%. By contrast, in other states, the figures were around 27% and 28%.
