The pie charts compare the amount of energy produced by five different energy sources, in the UK in 2014 and 2018.
Overall, it is clear that gas was the majority of energy source in both years, although the use of renewable energy was almost double in the 4-year period.
According to the first picture, gas was the most common fuel used in the UK in 2014, accounting for 30.1% of the total fuel. This was followed by nuclear and coal, which in total comprised half of the energy sources in the UK in 2014. The least popular fuels were renewable and oil which accounted for 15% and 4% respectively.
In 2018, there was a significant change in the proportion of renewable energy use in the UK. Indeed, renewable energy became the second most popular fuel, accounting for more than a quarter of the total energy sources. Whereas, Gas was still the most common source of energy production, standing at 30.1% of the Total.
