The pie charts provide information about the amount of energy produced by 5 types of fuel in the UK in 2014 and 2018. While the figures for energy generated by gas and nuclear power were the highest, renewable and coal sources produced slightly less than gas and nuclear power in both years. Meanwhile, oil and other sources generated the least amount of energy in both 2014 and 2018.
In the UK, the biggest proportion of energy is produced by gas. In 2014 and 2018, 30.1% of all energy was generated by this source. By contrast, the figure for energy generated from oil and other minor sources contributed 4% of all produced energy in both years.
In 2014, coal energy was the second most popular with 28.4%. However in 2018, it declined to 18.1%, making way for renewable energy. Meanwhile, the percentage of energy produced from nuclear power was 22.5% in 2014. In 2018, it experienced a minimal decrease to 21.6%. The renewable energy was popular too as it contributed to 15% of all produced energy in 2014. Moreover, after a noticeable growth to 26.2% in 2018, it became the second most used source to generate energy.
