The pie charts compare the different methods used by people in Canada and Australia to access the news.
Overall, TV and online platforms are the most popular sources of news in both countries. However, while Canadians rely more on television, the majority of Australians prefer to get their news online. In contrast, traditional methods like print and radio are significantly less popular in both nations.
In Canada, television is the leading source of news, accounting for 40%, followed closely by online access at 36%. In Australia, the situation is reversed; online platforms are the dominant choice, used by more than half of the population (52%). Meanwhile, TV is the second most common source in Australia, representing 37%, which is slightly lower than the Canadian figure.
Traditional media outlets see much lower engagement. In Canada, 14% of people still use print media, which is double the percentage of Australia (7%). Similarly, radio is used by 7% of Canadians, whereas only a tiny fraction of Australians (2%) choose this medium. Finally, a small minority in both countries – 3% in Canada and 2% in Australia – did not specify their preferred news source.
