The pie chart illustrates the distribution of game sales by genre in the Netherlands in 2014. Overall, action and shooter games dominated the market of video games, whereas the casual games represented the smallest proportion, while the remaining genres occupied relatively modest shares.
Looking first at the action games, accounted for 28% of their sales, making it by far the most popular category. Followed by the shooter games for 22%, meaning that these two genres alone contributed exactly half of the market. Sport games accounted for 13%, while the RPG or Role-Playing Games represented 10%.
The other genres were considerably less popular. Adventure and fighting games each comprised 6% of sales respectively, followed by racing games at 5% and strategy games at 4%. Family entertainment games made up only 3% of the market. Meanwhile, other games and casual games accounted for just 2% and 1% respectively, making them the least significant categories in terms of sales.
