The pie chart depicts the percentage of people in an engineering company having different degrees (first degree, masters, and PhD) in the field of Arts and Science in the year 1980 and 2008.
Overall, although there was a larger proportion of people with first degree in arts and science in 1980, It was overtaken by PhD degree in the later year. Moreover, employees who possess master’s degree in both fields were almost same in both the years.
In terms of Arts, the biggest proportion of people in 1980 possessed first degree, accounting for 25%, followed by Master’s (12%) and PhD (2%). However, although proportion of employees working in engineering company rose by only 1%, it had overtaken the figure for first degree as it fell to just above a tenth. In contrast, 7% of the people graduated with PhD in Arts.
In contrast, the proportion of employees holding master’s degree in science constitute 29% in 1980, which was the highest among all other categories. whereas first degree containing people were around a fifth but fell by 10% in 2008, PhD graduates went up from 13% to 30%, reaching the highest position in the later year.
