The pie charts compare the distribution of ages in the Brazilian and the German populations in 2000 with future predictions for the year 2050.
Overall, the proportion of seniors is expected to increase, while that of youth is projected to decrease, albeit to varying degrees in the two countries. The percentage of adults, which takes the lion’s share in both populations in the presented period, on the other hand, is predicted to rise slightly for the Brazilian population, but it will see a downturn in Germany in 2050.
Looking first at the percentage of variations in the Brazilian population, it is apparent that adults record the biggest portion in both years. With an initial standing of 65%, this figure will reach 70% in 2050. A similar pattern is observed in senior demographics, which account for 5% initially and 13% in the predicted year. Youth figures, conversely, follow a downward trend. This figure stands at 30%, before going down to 17% in 2050, a figure that experiences a steady drop.
Focusing on the age distribution in Germany in 2000 and further forecasts to 2050, the proportion of adults tops the chart, despite its fall. It makes up 65%, before declining to 48% in the projected year. As for the remaining age cohorts, changes are not as dramatic. To be specific, the percentage of seniors is forecast to grow by 18%, from 22% in 2000 to 40% in 2050. Youths’ proportion, on the contrary, drops slightly from 13% in 2000 to 12% in 2050, representing the most negligible change.
