The provided pie charts illustrate the proportion of money spent on different household costs in a state in both 2017 and 2018.
Overall, nearly a third of the household income was spent in renting or buying a housing property in 2017. Schooling ranked the second highest entity. However, in 2018, this has dramatically changed. The costs of housing and groceries ranked highest, each taking a quarter of the budget.
The share of education and housing decreased from 22% and 32% in 2017, to 18% and 25% in 2018, respectively. However, the amount of cash paid for the household bills didn’t change between the two years.
People spent extra 6% of their budget on groceries in 2018, as the percentage increased from 18 to 24. This was nearly the same share spent on entertainment activities. This hasn’t changed the rank occupied by entertainment as it’s still ranking lowest in both years.
