Overall, the biggest change in the number of listeners experienced the streaming services and digital downloads. Looking at the physical formats, it experienced the least of the percent change. In both years, the streaming held most of the share of listeners, while other methods took up the least.
The most popular method to enjoy music among consumers is streaming: 32% of them used it in 2015 and 41% in 2017. The second most widely spread method is terrestrial and satellite radio. However it experienced a reduction in 2 percents, rather than an increase like streaming.
Moving on, another method that underwent a decrease is digital downloads. The percentage of people listening to music via digital downloads significantly dropped from 23% to 14% from 2015 to 2017. Both physical formats and other methods had an insignificant changes in 1 percent and 3 percents accordingly.
