The two pie charts demonstrate the percentage of degree holders along with six different levels of credentials in science and art performing a job in a particular engineering company between 1980 and 2008.
Overall, graduates in master-science remained the highest proportion in engineering company, while Ph.D science overtook in figure with the passage of time. In addition, first degree science experienced a noticeable decrease over the period, whereas, master – art and Ph.D – art saw declines in their proportions.
In 1980, degree holders in master – science made up the largest share of job at 29% followed by Ph.D – science at 25%. First degree science stood at 20% making it the third largest level in the company. Master art and first degree art represented almost similar proportions at 13% and 11% respectively, while academic achievements in Ph.D art was the smallest share accounted for 2% of the total.
By 2008, PH.D science had risen slightly from 25% to 30% becoming the joint largest percentage in engineering company alongside degrees in master science remained unchanged at 29%. By contrast, first degree science fell from 20% to 12%, while master art and first degree art declined to 12% and 10% respectively. Ph.D art grew substantially from 2% to 7%.
