The graphs compare different types of energy in Australia in 2008 and provide projections for 2030.
Overall, it is clear that the proportions of energy produced by oil, gas and renewable energy are expected to increase in the future, in contrast with other sources. Additionally, the largest share of energy sources belonged to coal, but oil is projected to dominate the amount of energy generated by 2030.
Regarding the chart in 2008, the amount of coal consisted the highest proportion with over a third of total, following by oil, which accounted for 32.50%. Coming in third was the figure for gas, making up 22.90% of the total. Renewable energy as solar, wind, hydro and other resources contributed a minimal proportion with 0.80%, 0.30%, 0.20% and 4.30%, respectively.
In terms of the predictions for 2030, the proportion of energy produced by coal is predicted to decrease dramatically by about 17%. While the figure for oil was smaller than coal in 2008, it is estimated to contain the highest proportion with 35.50%. Gas will also account for 32% of total, taking the third position. Whereas the renewable energy sources are projected to be used more in 2030 with 0.90%, 0.70% and there will be a new type of energy which consists of 4.30% as prediction. Undefined resources are anticipated to keep unchanged with 4.30%.
