Conversely, Latin American & Caribbean remote areas had the least impoverished population with 40% poverty in 2002. Moreover, the proportions of the poor people showed a declining trend over the years from 1993 to 2002, except in Europe & Central Asia, where the percentage plunged by roughly 15%.
Turning to the pie chart, the remote locations accounted for about three-fourth of the total poor population in 2002.
