The given maps illustrate Porth Harbour in the past and the changes that have been made in the present day. Overall, the harbour has witnessed radical transformation. However, the characteristics at the top side of the map mostly remain the same.
It can be seen that in the past, there was a single dock in the northern section of the harbour, next to the public beach. At present, another dock serving passenger ferries has been constructed, while the beach remains unchanged. At the top-left hand corner of the map, there was previously a car park, a marina for private yachts, showers and toilets connected to the main road in 2000. Today, there is a small change, which is that the old marina has been relocated to the south.
Turning to other features, we can see that the destination for fishing boats has been replaced by the marina and relocated to the north. In the first map, there was a castle at the southeast of the harbour next to a public beach. Now, it has been demolished and replaced by a hotel, while the beach has transformed into a private beach. In addition, new facilities have been constructed: showers and toilets opposite the car park and a cafe shop to the west of the lifeboat.
