The two maps illustrate the transformation of a natural history museum from 2010 to 2013. Overall, the natural history museum has become more diverse and visitor-friendly with the introduction of a range of new facilities. It is also clear that the majority of the changes took place on the left and right sides of the gallery, while the middle section remained more or less intact.
Focusing on 2010, access was at the bottom, with a dinosaur hall to the left and a garden to the right. There was also a lobby in the centre, featuring a ticket office, behind which was the ocean hall, while the mammals room was in the top left-hand corner.
Since then, the museum has experienced significant changes. While the lobby, ocean hall, dinosaur hall, and ticket desk have remained intact, the Mammals room has been turned into an Ice Age exhibition, with the addition of an insects room. The garden, however, has been cut down, making way for the construction of mammals, human origins display, shop and cafe.
