The plans compare the structure of a standard two-storey house in Japan in the past and the present.
Overall, it can be seen that there is a difference between the two periods, with the innovation of the sleeping area in the house. Moreover, most of the rooms have been moved to the second floor, leaving the first floor with more space compared to the past.
Firstly, on the first floor, the traditional room has been moved from the upper side of the floor to the left side but is still separate from the rest of the space. Additionally, the bathroom has been moved to the left side of the upstairs area and is larger in size. A new space for living and dining rooms has been introduced, integrated with the kitchen.
Secondly, upstairs, two tatami-floored rooms with cupboards containing futons have been completely removed, leaving room for more amenities. In the upper part of the floor, 2 smaller bedrooms have been established. On the opposite side, a main bedroom, which includes a bathroom, has been built. In addition, all the rooms on this floor were constructed with modern doors instead of sliding doors.
