The demonstrated map gives information about changes made in the library over an eight-year period, between 2001 and 2009.
Overall, gradual improvements were observed on the Ground floor of the library throughout the period, with traditional book sections replaced by modern facilities such as computers, films, and a children’s area.
Looking at the details, in 2001, the entrance to the pblic area was from the south, with many tables in the middle and a fiction section situated in the northern part of the library. There was a Librarian’s desk opposite the entrance, and far from the Librarian’s desk, newspapers and periodicals were located next to the tables. There was a self-help area in the south-west part of the library, and the history room was located in the top left corner of the public building. There was a staircase next to the entrance.
In contrast, by 2009, the major changes were experienced in the public building with new additions. For example, the self-help and history rooms made way for 5 different rooms, namely history, fiction, self-help, kitchen, law, and economics. The newspapers and periodicals area became a new films and DVDS area, while the entrance, stairs, and librarian’s desk remained unchanged; a new computers blog was constructed. The fiction section had gone, and its place was taken by Children’s books. The tables changed somewhat, with each table linked, and the children’s area established between the tables and Children’s books.
