Overall, the ground floor of the museum witnessed a number of dramatic changes, the important of which are the expansion of gift shop, and the disappearance of archaeology gallery.
While the museum office and the natural history room remained unchanged, the gift shop was expanded to near the stairs, accomplished by a new lift was built between the gift shop and the natural history room catering for the flow of visitors. There was used to be a reception counter located right next to the museum office in 1990, but it was then removed to near the main entrance, and the main entrance also was enlarged to accessible for visitors going into the museum.
In 1990, the statue located between the ordinary gift shop, but it then relocated to the middle of the museum, making it more easier for visitors to see it. The east side of the ground floor of the museum undergone significant changes, with the demolition of archaeology gallery to make a way for building a new children’s interactive space and a poster exhibition area, and the ordinary wall was knocked out catering for entertainment purposes. Meanwhile, the local history room stayed the same throughout the year.
