The maps illustrate the layout of the ground floor of a museum in 1990 and 2010, highlighting the changes made over the two-decade period.
Overall, the ground floor of the museum underwent substantial modifications, particularly in its exhibition spaces and amenities, while some core features, such as the natural history room and staircase, remained unchanged.
In 1990, the reception counter was positioned to the left of the main entrance, directly opposite the local history room on the right corner. Behind the reception area was the museum office, situated next to the natural history room. A staircase was located centrally at the back of the floor, with a prominent statue placed between the stairs and a small gift shop in the left corner. To the right side, a large archaeology gallery was accessible through the local history room or the main entrance.
By 2010, significant changes had been implemented. The reception counter was relocated closer to the widened entrance, separating it from the museum office. The statue was moved to the center of the floor, creating space for an expanded gift shop and a newly added café on the left. The natural history room remained in its original location, but a lift was installed between it and the adjacent café and gift shop. The archaeology gallery was converted into two distinct areas: a poster display zone and a children’s interactive area. The children’s zone occupied the right corner, near the stairs, and was adjacent to the poster display.
