The plans above demonstrates how the South Wing of Walton Museum in 2008 differs from the redeveloped model in 2012.
Overall, there has been is a significant change in the South Wing of the museum after a period of 5 years, including the addition of more rooms, floors and a lift. of floor added – form one ground floor to one ground floor and 2 upper floor. Stairs are developed into lifts and further more addition to services the museum provides.
In 2008 the entrances is located on the left of the building where it leads right into the reception. Next, the reading room is right across the reception where in the middle present a stairs leading to the basement where on the right exist the cloaks room. On the left of the basement, next to the stair is the shop of the museum and on the further left shows the special exhibition room.
Significant changes have been made to the museum’s layout, including the addition of two upper floors and a roof. The entrance has been transformed into a hall with designated boundaries leading to the reception room, which now combines the reception area with the cloakroom. The staircase has been replaced with a lift, allowing visitors to travel from the basement to the third floor. The reading room remains in its original position, directly across from the lift on the ground floor. In the basement, the left section remains unchanged, while the right section has been modified, replacing the former cloakroom with a children’s play area. On the second floor, a restaurant has been added to the left of the lift, while a terrace extends further to the left. To the right of the lift, a self-service room has been introduced. Finally, the lift provides access to the third floor, where the exhibition room is located on the right side, covered by a roof.
