The maps below compare the layout of a mining town before and after the reconstruction.
Overall, the site has underwent significant changes. The main zone used for waste disposal had been transformed into recreation area and the staff’s changing room being removed along with the lorry park.
In the past, the site had several facilities for staff. In the western side of the territory, there were three different facilities. The staff’s changing room was situated between the main office and the parking lot from north and south. There was a mine entrance for workers, located centrally, with two large waste pits positioned to the east. At the very center of the site, there was a medical room which was right above the lorry park.
In recent years, the area has been redeveloped and modernized with several public services. Firstly, both waste pits and a medical room have been removed to pave the way for picnic area, a driving truck track, and a cafe which then surrounded by a foot path. Instead of the office and a changing room, the museum has been constructed, while children’s playground is added to the south-east corner. In contrast, parking lot and a mine entrance have not been relocated.
