the pie chart illustrates how different age groups in Jamestown utilized social media in 2018. Overall, teenagers were observed to access social media most frequently, followed by individuals in their late twenties and mid-thirties. As residents grew older, they tended to enjoy life outside of the internet.
Among the younger demographic, the data suggests that more individuals are adapting to the trend of using the internet for communication. Even though the age group from 13 to 25 comprised the youngest participants in the survey, they actually had the highest percentage of social media usage at 40 percent. Similarly, young adults represent the second-highest user group in the town, just slightly behind the teenagers by 5 percent. However, the middle-aged group exhibited a clear difference in their social media participation, accounting for only 35 percent, highlighting a significant gap between teenagers and adults.
As for the remaining age groups, the figures indicate relatively low usage. Due to their unfamiliarity with this trend, many elderly residents in town opt not to engage with social media. For example, among those in their twenties, only around 8 percent used social media. Similarly, the number of people over 55 utilizing these platforms is even lower, at 6 percent less than the young adults.
