The table and the chart illustrate the daily allocation of time for various leisure and household activities by the male and female population in Britain.
As observed, men spent more time on leisure activities than women, apart from reading, whereas women engage more in household chores than their male counterparts, with the exception of repair work.
Looking at the table, watching TV, videos, and listening to the radio dominated, with men and women spending 137 and 118 minutes per day, respectively. Reading is an exception where the spent time by women (19 minutes) surpassed that by men (18 minutes). Sport is the least time-consuming activity, as both genders dedicated only 15 and 11 minutes per day, respectively.
Turning to the bar chart, cooking and washing take up a significant portion of women’s time, with women spending around 75 minutes daily, more than twice the 30 minutes men spend. Similarly, shopping and clothes washing and ironing are notable, with women spending 35 and 30 minutes respectively, while men contribute significantly less time, at 13 and 2 minutes respectively. An exception is repair work, where men spend 19 minutes per day, which is more than double the 7 minutes women allocate to this task
