The table and bar chart show the time spent on leisure and household activities by males and females in 2006.
In general, females stood out with consistently higher numbers, spending their time on leisure and domestic activities more than their male counterparts. However, when it comes to repairing, reading, and sports, men spent more minutes compared to women.
To begin with, the average time spent on TV, video, and radio by women accounted for 137 minutes, while their male counterparts spent less time, with almost two hours. Similarly, in reading, females spent slightly more time than males (women spent 19 minutes, men spent 18 minutes). Nonetheless, in one particular leisure activity, namely sports, males allocated more time than females, with 15 and 11 minutes, respectively.
Turning to domestic activities, females spent a considerable amount of time on cooking and washing dishes, amounting to half an hour, whereas males spent only 30 minutes. Furthermore, in shopping, washing, and ironing clothes, women allocated 38 and 30 minutes, respectively, but their male counterparts spent less, with corresponding figures of 25 and 10 minutes. Nonetheless, males devoted a significant amount of time to repairing compared to females (males spent 20 minutes, females spent 10 minutes).
