The table shows the proportion of women in management positions in four industries in a European country in 2006: finance, manufacturing, hospitality, and information technology.
Overall, women were present in all four industries, but their representation declined in more senior roles. Hospitality had the highest proportions, while manufacturing consistently recorded the lowest.
In hospitality, almost one-third of managers were women, while the figures for executives and CEOs were also notable, at about 20%. In contrast, the numbers for manufacturing were consistently below 10%, with 9% of managers, around 2% of executives, and only 1.2% of CEOs being women.
In both finance and IT, women accounted for around 16% of managers. In finance, only about 5% of executives were women, which was roughly three times lower than in IT. Similarly, for CEOs, IT had a higher share at nearly 7%, compared to less than 2% in finance.
