In terms of passengers China had the highest number with 27 million people using rail services. Malaysia and the UAE had comparable numbers, at 5.9 million and 5.5 million respectively. Canada had only 0.3 million passengers, which is very low in comparison. Passenger kilometers per capita were also highest in China, at 1,980 km. Malaysia and the UAE recorded around 770 780 km per person, while Canada had only 80 km per person.

For cargo, Canada was far ahead, transporting 2,820 billion tons. In contrast, Malaysia, China, and the UAE each moved only about 22-23 billion tons.

In summary, China dominated passenger rail transport, while Canada led in cargo transport, despite having relatively few rail passengers.
