The table chart presents the main features and relevant comparisons regarding railway transport in four countries such as Malaysia, Canada, China and the UAE in 2007 by number of passengers, passenger kilometeres per head and the amount of cargo transported.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that China recorded the highest figures for passenger use and passenger km per person, while Canada transported by far the largest size of cargo.
China was the leading country, with 27 million users of rail transport. Malaysia recorded 5,9 million passengers , while the UAE had 0.4 million fewer. In contrast, Canada had only 0.3 million rail users, ranking last among the four countries.
Conserning passengers km per head, Malaysia and the UAE demonstrate the similar amoung , at 770 and 780 km. China once recorded gain the highest number, wheraes Canada the lowest figure, at around 80 km, which is on 24 times lower than China’s result.
The difference in cargo transported was much noticable compared to the other categories. Canada occupied first in this aspect, carrying 2820 billon tones. The remainig countries transported almost identical amounts, at around 22-23 billon tones
