English is being spoken by 527 million native speakers and is being used in 101 countries, roughly twice compared to French and three times compared to Chinese.
On the other hand, Chinese has the largest number of native speakers, more double English with 1.39 billion. It is the third most popular language to learn with 30 million people, more than double Spanish, which has only 14.5 million learners. Following up by Italian with 8 million learners but Spanish has over five times native speakers than Italian. Japanese is the lowest in number of learners and number of countries it is being used in, but the second lowest in number of native speakers, almost twice compared to Italian.
