The table provides information about the students who are studying in different faculties in an Australian college in 2009.
Overall, it can be seen that the percentage of females in English, Modern Languages, History department was dominated, while the opposite for the rate of the other faculties. Additionally, students whose first language was not English and those born outside Australia made up nearly half of the total enrolments in most departments, with the exception of the Modern Languages department.
Regarding females, English was the highest percentage of female students with 67%, followed by the proportion of females in Modern Languages at 63% and History at 58%. In contrast, Chemistry and Physics had the lowest proportion of females at just 29% and Physics slightly higher at 37%, while Math had a slightly higher figure at 42%.
Regarding students whose first language was not English and born outside Australia, Modern Languages had the largest share, at 41%, followed by 38% of the students in Physics and Math (36%). The proportion of students in the Chemistry department accounted for 32%, whereas English and History department rates were much lower, at 16% and 10%, respectively. Additionally, students born outside Australia studying in the Modern Languages department had the highest proportion at 54%. Similarly, the share of students born outside Australia studying in the Chemistry department ranked second and made up 47% of the total. Moreover, in Physics and Math, students born abroad took up 44% and 43%, respectively. On the other hand, the figures for students not Australian English and History recorded the smallest figures with only 27% and 18%, respectively.
