The table present the data concerning consumer expenditure on various items in Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in the year of 2002.
Overall, food, drinks and tobacco were the most popular items to purchase for all of the five countries, with leisure and education being the least popular options.
Turkey and Ireland were the two highest buyers of food, drinks and tobacco, with 29% and 32% of consumers’s profit going into them, respectively. The last three had fewer percentages ranging from 16% to 19%.
On the other hand, Italy was the highest buyer of clothing and footwear, despite having only 9% of consumer’s money spent on them. The other four had similar percentages ranging from 5.4% to 6.6%.
Leisure and education expenditure was most common for Turkey, with 4.35% of income spent on them and even less for the others the expenditure ranging from 2.20% to 3.20%.
